Recycling cans, paper, cardboard, glass and plastic containers is free to all residents in the Kansas City metro area (you do not have to live in Shawnee).
Does not pay for any items accepted.
Paper cups - Coffee and soda cups. Coffee sleeves are recyclable. Discard lids, straws and stirs.
Plastic to-go cups - #1 and #5 only. Discard lids, straws and stirs.
Large appliances - Fee charged to remove refrigerant from dehumidifiers, air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, etc.
Glass - No TVs, mirrors, light bulbs, windshields/safety glass, fiberglass, or these glass-like items: ceramic, china, porcelain, milk glass, Pyrex, Corningware, Corelle.
Holiday Trees - Natural trees and greenery only. Remove lights, decorations, plastic bags, and stands.
